Fubara Endorses Tinubu’s Re-Election, Praises Ongoing Reforms
Siminalayi Fubara has expressed strong support for a second term for Bola Tinubu, stating that the country is currently under steady and capable leadership.
The Rivers State governor made the remarks on Thursday in Port Harcourt while inaugurating the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council.
The gathering brought together monarchs from across the 17 southern states to discuss key issues including regional unity, security, and economic growth.
Fubara highlighted what he described as meaningful progress by the current administration, particularly in efforts to stabilise the economy and deliver major infrastructure projects such as coastal road developments.
Despite existing challenges, he argued that maintaining continuity in leadership is essential for sustaining these gains, noting that changing direction midway could disrupt progress.
He also called on leaders and stakeholders across the southern region to work together toward common goals, stressing the importance of unity in achieving long-term development.
According to him, hosting the high-level meeting reflects Rivers State’s peaceful environment and readiness for national engagements.
In his remarks, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who chairs the council, said the forum was designed to promote harmony and strengthen collaboration among the southern states.
He described the region as richly diverse, with hundreds of languages and cultures, adding that the meeting demonstrates the strength found in that diversity.
The monarch noted that the Port Harcourt session is the fourth in the council’s series of engagements, following earlier meetings held in Imo State, Ogun State, and Lagos State.
He explained that the platform allows traditional rulers to deliberate on shared concerns and explore ways to support national efforts in addressing security and economic challenges.
The event drew participation from prominent traditional leaders across the South-South, South-East, and South-West, including Cletus Illomuanya and Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, underscoring the broad representation at the gathering.
