INEC Makes Major Move on David Mark, ADC Leadership Battle Takes New Twist
Nigeria’s political landscape recorded a significant development on Thursday as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made a crucial update involving former Senate President David Mark and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
A check of the electoral body’s official portal confirmed the latest change, marking a fresh turn in the prolonged leadership battle within the opposition party.
The development comes on the heels of a Supreme Court judgment which set aside an earlier Court of Appeal ruling that had restrained INEC from recognizing Mark’s leadership within the ADC.
It will be recalled that on April 1, 2026, INEC removed the names of David Mark and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, from its official records as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
With the latest action, the electoral commission has effectively drawn the curtain on weeks of uncertainty surrounding the ADC’s leadership, setting the stage for a new chapter in the party’s affairs.
