Jealous Rage Turns Deadly: Mother Jailed for Life Over Killing of Her 4-Year-Old Daughter

A chilling case out of Berkeley, West Virginia, United States, has ended in a life sentence for 33-year-old Rebakah Weikle, who admitted to killing her four-year-old daughter, Haley, in a crime prosecutors say was driven by jealousy.

Weikle pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and child abuse, bringing a grim close to a case that has shocked many.

The court, sitting in Summers County, sentenced her on April 30, 2026, handing down two life terms, with a chance of parole only after 30 years.

Investigators revealed that the tragic incident occurred in July 2022 inside the family’s home in Forest Hill.

On the night of the incident, Haley’s father and her siblings had gone to bed, leaving the young girl alone with her mother. It was during those quiet hours that the fatal act was carried out.

According to prosecutors, Weikle had become increasingly resentful of the bond between her husband and their daughter.

Authorities said she had gone as far as researching ways to harm the child before carrying out the act, pointing to clear intent.

Afterward, she reportedly tried to erase traces of what she had done—cleaning up, hiding evidence, and behaving as though nothing had happened. By morning, she informed her husband that their daughter was not awake.

It was only when he checked on the child that the devastating reality became clear, prompting him to call emergency services.

In a further attempt to evade responsibility, Weikle initially accused her husband of committing the crime, but later admitted the allegation was false as part of her guilty plea.

During proceedings, the child’s father spoke of his pain and anger, describing the loss as unimaginable and condemning the actions that led to his daughter’s death.

While the court acknowledged the severity of the punishment, officials indicated that Weikle is unlikely to leave prison alive, despite being technically eligible for parole decades from now.
