Kenya Weather Alert: Heavy Rains Expected in Nairobi and 33 Counties for Three Days
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across Nairobi and 33 other counties from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5.
Some areas could see more than 50mm of rain in just 24 hours, while others will experience moderate showers.
Residents have been urged to prepare early and stay alert to avoid risks linked to flooding and poor road conditions.
In Nairobi, the affected areas include Starehe, Embakasi, Mathare, Kamukunji, Makadara, and Ruaka, among others.
The weatherman also cautioned that afternoon and evening storms may cause traffic disruptions and slippery roads, urging drivers, bodaboda riders, and pedestrians to exercise extra care during the three-day period.
Beyond Nairobi, the rains are expected to hit several regions, including the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Western, Northeastern, Southeastern Lowlands, and Coastal areas. Counties such as Kisumu, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kakamega, Garissa, Mombasa, and Kilifi are all on the alert list.

Authorities advise residents in low-lying areas to be cautious of possible flooding and to follow official updates closely.
