Kenyan Athlete Rhonex Kipruto Banned for Six Years, Stripped of Records

Kenyan athlete Rhonex Kipruto has been handed a six-year ban for doping, resulting in the loss of his 2019 world 10,000m bronze medal and his 2020 10km world record.

The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) cited irregularities in his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) dating back to July 2018. Kipruto’s ban follows recent suspensions of other Kenyan athletes for doping offences. He remains eligible to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
