Kwara Community Under Pressure as Kidnappers Issue One-Week Deadline, Demand N300m Ransom
Ten residents of Isapa, a community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, remain in captivity as the armed group responsible for their abduction has issued a fresh ultimatum demanding N300 million within one week.
The victims were seized last Sunday during a night raid that plunged the quiet agrarian town into panic. Since then, community leaders and local security groups have been engaged in negotiations, but no breakthrough has been recorded.
The attackers initially asked for N500 million, later reducing the amount to N300 million after days of discussions.
According to community sources, the kidnappers have now threatened to kill the hostages and launch a deadlier assault on Isapa if the revised demand is not met.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Chief Hunter of the town, Mr. A. Adeyeye, said the abductors rejected the community’s offer of N5 million, insisting it was far below their expectation.
Adeyeye explained that the threat has intensified fear across the town, with residents worried the armed group may carry out its warning if the ransom is not paid promptly.
