As Liberia gears up for its upcoming general-presidential elections, the nation finds itself on the precipice of a political showdown like never before.

Liberians will soon exercise their democratic right to choose their representatives, both in the legislative and executive branches, with the presidency being the ultimate prize.

In this high-stakes political battle, three major contenders have emerged, each vying to lead the nation towards a promising future:

1. The Coalition for Democracy Change (CDC): Led by the charismatic President George Weah, the CDC has been a force to be reckoned with. Recent rallies, including their electrifying launch in Monterrado County, have showcased their formidable numerical strength, setting the stage for a fiercely contested election.

2. The Unity Party (UP): Under the leadership of former Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the UP, once the ruling party during the tenure of Africa’s first democratically elected female President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is making a bold comeback. Boakai, who recently embarked on a diplomatic mission to Nigeria, is set to officially launch the party’s campaign on September 17, 2023.

3. The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP): Featuring Alexander Cummings as their presidential candidate, the CPP is gaining momentum, promising to uplift the lives of the Liberian people. Their first major regional launch in Margibi drew thousands of eager citizens, all hungry to hear Cummings’ vision for their nation. The CPP’s official launch is scheduled for October 6, 2023, at the iconic Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, where Cummings is expected to address critical developmental issues.

With the nation’s political fate hanging in the balance, Liberia braces itself for an election season filled with anticipation and excitement.

As these political heavyweights crisscross the country, canvassing for support and outlining their visions, one thing is clear: the destiny of Liberia lies in the hands of its determined and passionate citizens, who will make the most crucial decision of all—their choice for the next president.
