The Statehouse Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested several Mbale city officials and area land committee members for allegedly conniving to sell over ten hectares belonging to the government at Nakaloke in Mbale City Northern Division.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, identifies the suspects as Arone Mulyanyuma, the former town clerk of Nakoloke town council, and Kasimu Wamboka, the former town clerk of Nauyo-Bugema town council, Physical planner, Monica Wazemwa, Health Inspector, Mary Nambuya, Sarah Kauza, and Godfrey Washemba as members.
According to Taitika, the suspects are accused of forging documents and conniving with land grabbers to give away government land in Nakoloke town council. He says that the suspects will appear in court once police investigations are complete to answer charges of corruption and illegally selling government property.
