Five social media users have been summoned by the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 2, for alleged “criminal defamation” against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa.
The summons follows claims made by the defendants on social media, suggesting that another gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, is responsible for Chinwo’s child. The defendants are ordered to appear in court on April 23, 2024, to answer the charges.
Additionally, Nathaniel Bassey has petitioned the Inspector General of Police to investigate and prosecute four individuals for similar allegations, citing criminal defamation and cyberstalking.
