NIGERIA: Supreme Court Delays Verdict on PDP Appeal Challenging Gov. Otti’s Victory in Abia State Election

The Supreme Court has deferred its judgment on an appeal by the PDP and its candidate in Abia State seeking to contest Governor Alex Otti’s victory in the 2023 election.

The court heard arguments and will communicate the judgment date later. There were discussions on alleged incompetent issues in the briefs, including the PDP’s inability to provide certain election result details. The case revolves around the legitimacy of the votes cast in Obingwa LGA, with issues raised about the number of accredited voters and the authenticity of the results presented by the PDP.
