Nigerians Are The Smartest People On Earth — Akon Opens Up On Global Success, Michael Jackson
Senegalese-American singer Akon has described Nigerians as the smartest people in the world, applauding the country’s growing global impact in entertainment and creativity.
The music star made the remark while speaking on the We Need To Talk podcast, where he also reflected on his unforgettable encounter with late pop legend Michael Jackson.
According to Akon, meeting and collaborating with Jackson remains one of the proudest achievements of his career, despite already being an established international celebrity at the time.
He said he grew up idolising the late singer and still considers himself “a child” compared to Jackson’s legendary status in music history.
Akon further recounted his involvement in the rise of African music, revealing that he once worked with Nigerian stars including P-Square and Wizkid.
He clarified, however, that Wizkid was connected to him through Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, where he had business interests.
The singer praised Nigerians for their intelligence, innovation and ability to shape global culture through music and entertainment.
