Former Your View host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has admitted that her past criticism of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, was made without a full understanding of his record in office.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the broadcaster said she only later realised the impact of Obi’s leadership after people reached out to her following her comments.
“It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people called me and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ I said, ‘Oh, I did not know,’” she explained.
Afolabi-Brown also opened up about her private struggles with depression, revealing that at one point she felt suicidal and even wished to be hit by a car while walking on the highway.
She confirmed that her decision to leave Your View came after the show’s tenth anniversary, describing it as something she had “harboured for a while.”
Recalling her earlier dismissal from TVC, she revealed that it took her father’s identity being made known to President Bola Tinubu before she was reinstated.
On a past controversy where she was accused of calling her husband a pedophile, she said Nigeria’s First Lady intervened and urged her to apologise publicly, which helped restore peace.
Her exit brought an end to her 12-year journey on the programme.
