Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has once again called on the Nigerian government to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been held for four years.
In a statement on Friday in Enugu, Ezechi Chukwu, National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, urged President Bola Tinubu to use his constitutional powers and diplomatic channels to free Kanu, citing the need for fairness and justice.
Chukwu noted that Kanu was arrested in Kenya and subsequently extradited to Nigeria four years ago. He described the extradition process as unlawful and questioned the basis of the charges against Kanu.
“The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu undermines the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system,” Chukwu said. “Holding him for four years without justice raises serious concerns.”
