PDP Blasts Govt As Gunmen Kill Kebbi Vice Principal, Kidnap 25 Schoolgirls
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denounced the deadly attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, describing the incident as another grim reminder of Nigeria’s deepening security crisis.
Armed men stormed the school on Sunday night, killing the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, before abducting at least 25 schoolgirls.
Security agencies, including police tactical teams, soldiers, and local vigilantes, have since launched a manhunt across the surrounding forests in an effort to rescue the missing students.
In a statement released Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the party was heartbroken by the killing and abduction, lamenting that such tragedies have become commonplace under the current administration.
According to the PDP, the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has failed to protect citizens, leaving communities vulnerable to attacks from bandits and other criminal groups.
The party said Nigerians “cannot continue to live at the mercy of marauders,” urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive actions rather than, in their words, “deflecting from the core issue of safety.”
The opposition party also extended condolences to the family of the slain vice principal, parents of the abducted students, school staff, and the Kebbi State Government.
The statement warned that the Maga school attack is only one of several recent abductions across states such as Nasarawa, Plateau, Kano, and Katsina, a pattern the PDP described as inconsistent with the administration’s promises to restore security.
“This tragic cycle must end,” the party insisted, calling on the President to prioritise security and prevent further loss of lives.
