In a move that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The dramatic announcement was made during President Tinubu’s working visit to Anambra State, where Governor Charles Soludo boldly declared, “Progressives are working together,” hinting at a potentially formidable political realignment.

The revelation, made at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka before a crowd of party stalwarts, traditional rulers, and state dignitaries, signals a deepening alliance between APGA and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Soludo portrayed the endorsement as more than a mere political strategy — calling it an ideological union rooted in shared visions for Nigeria’s future.

“This is about continuity, about consolidating on the reforms already in motion,” Soludo said, underlining the importance of unity among progressive forces to secure the nation’s economic and political stability.

President Tinubu, visibly moved by the declaration, commended the APGA leadership and lauded Governor Soludo’s vision. He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, vowing to push forward development initiatives, especially in the Southeast.

This bold move by APGA and Soludo signals a new chapter in Nigerian politics, with the possibility of a more unified front pushing for lasting change. The alliance could set the stage for a major shake-up in the 2027 race, and I’m curious to see how this progressive coalition will play out in the coming months. Could this partnership finally bring about the reforms Nigeria desperately needs? Only time will tell.
