Tensions Rise as Iran Fires Back at Trump Over Strait of Hormuz Threat

A fresh war of words has erupted between Donald Trump and Iranian officials, following a controversial warning from Washington over the status of the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most vital oil routes.

The dispute began after Trump issued a stern ultimatum to Tehran, demanding the full reopening of the Strait to global shipping. He warned that failure to comply could trigger severe consequences, describing a scenario that would make life unbearable for Iran.

Although the deadline was initially set earlier, the US leader reportedly extended it, maintaining pressure on Iran to guarantee unrestricted maritime access for international trade and oil transport.

In a sharp response, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Sayed Reza Salihi-Amiri, dismissed Trump’s remarks, branding him an “unstable and delusional” figure. He argued that such statements reflect inconsistency and a lack of diplomatic restraint.

Salihi-Amiri also pushed back on the claim that Iran is blocking the waterway. According to him, the Strait remains open to global users but is effectively restricted for countries Tehran considers hostile.

The exchange highlights growing tensions between both nations, with the Strait of Hormuz once again at the center of geopolitical friction—raising concerns about global oil supply and regional stability.
