Terrorists Kill Several, Injure Many in Fresh Attack on Katsina Community in Nigeria
Several residents have been killed and many others injured following a deadly attack by armed terrorists on Gurbi community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community on Sunday afternoon, firing sporadically and sending residents fleeing for safety.
Although local vigilantes and armed residents quickly mobilised and confronted the assailants, a number of villagers were caught in the violence while attempting to escape.
Sources within the community said some victims ran into the attackers during the chaos and were shot, while others sustained injuries in the gunfire.
Gurbi, a farming and commercial community near the Katsina-Zamfara border, has remained vulnerable to repeated attacks due to its proximity to volatile areas.
Security authorities have yet to release an official statement on the latest assault. The incident adds to growing concerns over the persistent insecurity facing communities across northern Nigeria.
