At least 14 worshippers were confirmed dead after a trailer lost control and ran into a Jumaat congregation in Imawa town, Kura Local Government Area, Kano, shortly after Friday prayers.
The incident occurred around 1:50 PM on the Kano-Kaduna highway. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that nine victims were buried the same day, and the injured are receiving treatment. The driver of the trailer fled the scene and remains at large.
FRSC officials, alongside other security agencies, initiated rescue operations promptly. The Sector Commander expressed condolences to the bereaved families and urged strict adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
