Trump to Attend Fifa Club World Cup Final Amid Expanded US Role in Global Football

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed his attendance at this Sunday’s Fifa Club World Cup final in New Jersey. This comes on the heels of Fifa’s announcement that it has opened a new office at Trump Tower in New York, strengthening the ties between the global football governing body and the U.S. administration.

The expanded Club World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, marks an important milestone as the country prepares for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted with Canada and Mexico. Trump, who is chairing a taskforce overseeing preparations for both events, has shown growing involvement in sports during his second term, notably attending major events like the Super Bowl and UFC matches.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino praised the strong governmental support, emphasizing that the organization’s New York office is essential for its presence in the U.S., one of the key markets for global football.

As the U.S. navigates issues surrounding Trump’s controversial immigration policies, Infantino reassured international fans that the country will be welcoming for all attendees. The final at MetLife Stadium will see Chelsea take on either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, setting the stage for a high-profile sporting event.
