Waste managers endorse Hamzat for 2027 Lagos Governorship

The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) has endorsed the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The President of AWAMN, Olugbenga Adebola, made the disclosure on Thursday during a news conference held at Alausa, Ikeja.

Adebola said the association’s endorsement aligns with the position of its Grand Patron, President Bola Tinubu, whom he noted had earlier signalled support for Hamzat.

He described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat with the competence and experience required to lead Lagos State.

According to him, Hamzat’s track record as a former commissioner in key ministries and his current role as Deputy Governor underscore his preparedness for higher responsibility.

“There is no other individual with the capacity, capability, tenacity and experience required to lead Lagos State at this critical time,” Adebola said.

He added that Hamzat’s dedication to public service and governance made him the most suitable candidate.

“As an association, it is our pleasure to identify with and endorse Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

“We call on other professional bodies and stakeholders to support his emergence as the next governor of Lagos State,” he said.

Adebola expressed confidence that Lagos would remain in safe hands under Hamzat’s leadership.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the association concluded its declaration with the hashtag #AWAMNStandsWithObafemiHamzat.
