You Cannot Pray Away Bandits – Mary Njoku Reacts to Yinka Alaseyori’s Advice
Nollywood actress has sparked debate online after stressing that prayer alone cannot solve Nigeria’s growing insecurity and social challenges.

Her comments followed remarks by gospel singer , who urged Nigerians to pray over the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State. The singer later apologised after facing criticism from many Nigerians.
In a post shared on Instagram, Njoku argued that physical problems require practical solutions. She noted that issues such as insecurity, poor roads, inadequate healthcare, and economic hardship cannot be solved by prayer alone.
According to her, while prayer remains important, it must be accompanied by action, planning, accountability, and hard work.
“Faith and action are not enemies. They work together,” she wrote, urging Christians not to confuse prayer with practical responsibility.

Her remarks have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users supporting her view that meaningful change requires both faith and decisive action.
