The Transport and Logistics Ministry directed Monday the demolition of all structures built on land belonging to the Zambia Railways Limited.
Speaking to the press, Transport and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali said he was in receipt of various cases of people who had reportedly encroached land belonging to the national railways adding that his office would soon act.
According to Mr. Tayali, the New Dawn government was planning to bring bullet trains in the near future and would not want to risky lives by allowing people to illegally occupy land for the rail-line.
From August 12 when President Hakainde Hichilema took over the reins of power, several local and international companies have expressed interest to partner with Zambia Railways in a bid to resuscitate the company which had declined during the former regime, this was contained in the minister’s comments.
