Dele Farotimi, the embattled human rights activist, has declared he is fully prepared for the ongoing legal battle, stating, “My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed, I am ready to war.” Farotimi, who is facing defamation charges brought by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola, shared his resolve via a post on X, emphasizing his strength to challenge powerful forces.
Despite the intensity of the trial, Farotimi expressed immense gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support during his detention. “Nigerians overlooked my ethnicity, my religion, and spoke for me,” he said, breaking down in tears as he reflected on the solidarity that led to his release. He was granted bail on December 24 after meeting stringent conditions, including a ₦30 million bond and surrendering his passport.
In a heartfelt live session, Farotimi expressed his appreciation, stating, “Nigeria couldn’t happen to me because people spoke for me.” His emotional message highlighted the collective voice of Nigerians standing up for justice, transcending divisions of ethnicity and religion.
