Generational leader. Resilient. Unapologetic.  These words encapsulate Donald Trump, the 45th and now 47th President of the United States of America, and AfricaWorld’s Man of the Year 2024. Four years ago, we boldly awarded this title to him during one of his most turbulent political chapters. Today, in a year marked by his dramatic return to power, we reiterate our decision and belief in him. Here’s why:

 1. Trump’s Stance on Cultural Sovereignty

Donald Trump’s opposition to the global push for LGBTQ+ normalization resonates deeply with African values. As a continent that upholds traditional beliefs and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, Trump’s resistance to imposing Western ideals on others is a rare and refreshing position. His leadership reflects an understanding that each region of the world deserves to maintain its cultural identity without external coercion.

 2. Championing Nationalism Over Globalism

Trump’s “America First” policy is a sharp reminder of what Africa needs: leaders who prioritize the welfare of their nations over global approval. While critics call it isolationist, we see it as a call to action for Africa to adopt an “Africa First” mindset. His unapologetic approach to national interest is an inspiration for leaders on our continent to take bold, strategic steps toward self-reliance and sustainable development.

 3. A Beacon of Political Resilience

In 2024, Trump achieved what many deemed impossible—a return to the White House after a polarizing exit. This relentless drive and political resilience send a powerful message about the importance of perseverance in leadership. Africa, a continent familiar with political turbulence, can draw lessons from his ability to rebuild and rally support despite formidable opposition.

 4. Encouraging a Shift in African Mindsets

Trump’s policies on immigration, though criticized by many, offer a wake-up call. His tough stance underscores the reality that success is not defined by relocating abroad but by investing in and improving one’s homeland. Africa possesses abundant resources, yet it lacks strategic leadership and innovative practices. Trump’s rhetoric challenges Africans to rethink the diaspora mindset and instead focus on harnessing local opportunities.

 5. A Stand Against Media Conformity

Trump’s contentious relationship with mainstream media highlights the power of challenging dominant narratives. As a Pan-African publication that has faced its share of censorship and restrictions, we admire his defiance against media monopolies. His ability to bypass traditional outlets and speak directly to his base mirrors the need for independent platforms in Africa to challenge Western-dominated narratives about our continent.

  6.  Acknowledge God

A Trump return automatically brings a stable global atmosphere with reverence to the Creator. Africa is the motherland for humanity, hence spirituality a factor. God is at the heart of what we do here in AfricaWorld News. We believe in Trump’s pragmatic approach.

 Conclusion

While Donald Trump remains a controversial figure, his boldness, resilience, and cultural alignment with certain African values make him a standout leader in today’s world. By awarding him the AfricaWorld Man of the Year 2024, we celebrate not just his policies but the spirit of unapologetic leadership that Africa desperately needs.

This decision may provoke outrage, as it did in 2020 when we faced backlash from Google and social media platforms. But as AfricaWorld, we refuse to be silenced. Controversy only strengthens our resolve to highlight what matters to our readers; leaders who dare to challenge the status quo.

Welcome back, Mr. President.
