On January 21,2025, President Donald Trump Signed an executive order aimed at altering the interpretation of birthright citizenship under the U.S.constituition’s 14th amendment.
The order specify that children born in the U.S. to parents who are unauthorised or holders of temporary visas would not be automatically granted U.S. citizenship.
This move has sparked immediate legal challenges from civil rights and immigrants advocacy groups , arguing that the order violates constitutional rights.
Adam Schiff in his X handle @senAdamSchiff stated ” All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction therefore, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside”.
Written right there in the constitution.
The president can not change that with the stroke of the pen.
