Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema on Tuesday promoted investment opportunities in Zambia at the Zambia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, urging Japanese companies to explore the country’s resources.

Speaking to over 100 Japanese firms, Hichilema highlighted Zambia’s rich copper and critical minerals sector, stable investment climate, and growing energy industry. He emphasized the government’s ambition to boost copper production to 3 million tonnes annually.

The president also held bilateral talks with Japanese officials, reaffirming Zambia’s commitment to supporting foreign investments, including those from Japan.

Hichilema described Zambia as an ideal business destination and called for stronger economic ties between the two nations.

His visit marks his first working trip to Japan, as part of efforts to attract international investors and drive economic growth.
