Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, a key figure in the Biafran independence movement, has accused the Nigerian government of pushing Biafrans to seek independence because of the severe and prolonged persecution of Christians in the South-East. In a recent interview with American author Robert Spencer, Orabueze explained that the marginalization of Biafrans, which dates back to the 1967 Civil War, has intensified with the widespread killings of Christians by Fulani terrorists and other groups integrated into Nigeria’s security forces.
Orabueze emphasized that this violence, combined with the Nigerian government’s failure to address the crisis, is a key driver of the push for Biafran independence. “Biafrans are begging to leave; we cannot stay in a country that integrates terrorists into its military and police,” she stated. Furthermore, she criticized the Finnish government’s arrest of Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of the United States of Biafra, as part of a broader effort to silence Biafran independence movements.
According to Orabueze, the situation for Christians in Nigeria has become dire, with reports stating that Nigeria is one of the deadliest places for Christians globally, citing over 10,000 Christians killed in recent years. She called on the U.S. government for support in their fight for independence, noting positive signs of solidarity.
In this context, the United States of Biafra has declared its independence and vowed to protect its people and practice their religion without fear of persecution.Attach
