General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, has firmly stated that the country will not accept disrespect from any nation, particularly in light of the visa denials faced by Nigerian military personnel for the Invictus Games in Canada.

Addressing the issue at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, he remarked, “Nigeria will not tolerate any form of disrespect.”

Despite following all necessary procedures and having the full support of top government officials, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, and the National Security Adviser, several members of the Nigerian team were denied entry to Canada. This included the team captain, medical doctor, and physiotherapist.

“The visa denial must be tackled on all fronts,” General Musa emphasized, adding that the Nigerian government is addressing the situation.

He also expressed outrage over the unfair treatment, questioning, “Why were most of our team members denied visas?”

General Musa also praised the wounded soldiers who participated in the games, stating, “You are true embodiments of the Nigerian spirit unconquered, unbroken, and unstoppable.”

He promised continued support for injured personnel, ensuring they will not be abandoned and that all necessary resources will be provided for their reintegration.

Though the team faced setbacks, they returned with six medals, including gold, silver, and bronze, proving their resilience.

Air Vice Marshal Nanjul Kumzhi, Director of Sports at the Defence Headquarters, highlighted that, despite the visa challenges, Nigeria’s team secured notable achievements, saying, “We came home with six medals during the games.”
