In a crucial Premier League clash at Goodison Park, Everton held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw, frustrating the Gunners’ slim title hopes.
Iliman Ndiaye’s second-half penalty cancelled out Leandro Trossard’s opener, helping Everton rise to 14th in the table.
Arsenal, sitting in second place with 62 points from 31 matches, are now 11 points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand. Everton, on the other hand, are 15 points clear of relegation after this hard-earned point.
The game saw Arsenal take the lead in the 34th minute when Trossard fired home after a quick breakaway pass from Raheem Sterling.
However, Everton responded early in the second half. A penalty was awarded when Myles Lewis-Skelly fouled Jack Harrison in the box, and Ndiaye made no mistake, scoring his ninth goal of the season to spoil Arsenal’s hopes of closing the gap on Liverpool
