Trump Rejects Health Rumours, Calls Speculation “Fake News”

US President Donald Trump has denied speculation about his health, dismissing it as unfounded and politically motivated.

Speaking from the Oval Office on Tuesday, the 79-year-old president said he had maintained a busy schedule over the Labor Day weekend, including media engagements and a visit to his Virginia golf course.

“I was very active over the weekend,” Trump told reporters. “Then I didn’t do any press conferences for two days and people started saying, ‘There must be something wrong with him.’ It’s fake.”

The comments followed a wave of social media rumours suggesting the president might be unwell, or even dead, after his official schedule showed fewer public appearances late last week.

The speculation intensified when Vice-President JD Vance told USA Today that while the president was “in good shape,” he was prepared to assume leadership if circumstances required.

Trump dismissed the online claims as part of a wider effort to undermine his leadership. “It’s so fake. ‘Is he OK? How’s he feeling? What’s wrong?’ Nothing is wrong. We are working harder than ever,” he said.

The rumours highlight how closely the president’s activities are scrutinised as he seeks to project energy and resilience heading into an election season. At 79, Trump remains the oldest sitting president in US history, a fact that often fuels debate about his fitness for office.

Political analysts note that Trump’s strategy has often involved portraying criticism as partisan attacks. By characterising the health speculation as “fake news,” he continued his long-standing pattern of framing negative narratives as media-driven falsehoods.

Despite the controversy, White House officials insisted the president’s health remains sound, pointing to his recent round of media appearances and public events as evidence.
