As politicians double their campaign efforts, the opposition United Party for National Development -UPND-, is significantly gaining ground in perceived strongholds for the ruling Patriotic Front -PF-.

With 13 days remaining for Zambians to cast the ballot in the country’s most contested polls, the UPND has targeted PF’s strongholds in the Northern circuit which includes three provinces; Luapula, Muchinga and Northern.

Speaking earlier today during a roadshow campaign in Northern province’s Mbala District, UPND’s Vice President who is also the party’s running mate, Mutale Nalumango, reminded several thousand of electorates who mobbed her, that the August 12 elections about determining the course of a country.

A calm spoken Nalumango added that PF and its presidential candidate, Republican President Dr Edgar Lungu, no longer had a political stronghold explaining that Zambians will vote according to how the economy is treating them.

The opposition leader who according to the latest Zambia Intelligence report is ahead of his rival President Lungu, is on a campaign trail in Eastern province.
