Madonna, Shakira, BTS to Turn World Cup Final Into Global Music Spectacle
The FIFA World Cup final is set to feature an unprecedented entertainment showcase as global superstars Madonna, Shakira, and K-pop sensation BTS have been confirmed to headline a Super Bowl-style half-time performance at the tournament’s closing match in the United States.
The announcement was made by FIFA ahead of the final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The match is part of the expanded World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to FIFA, the half-time show is designed not only as a musical highlight but also as a global advocacy platform tied to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The initiative aims to raise 100 million dollars to expand access to education and football development opportunities for children worldwide.
The organisation said more than 30 million dollars has already been raised, with one dollar from every World Cup ticket sold being directed toward social impact programmes across different countries.
While traditional football half-time breaks last around 15 minutes, there are reports suggesting the performance could exceed the usual time limit, raising expectations for a longer entertainment segment during the final.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the upcoming show as a historic fusion of sport and entertainment, saying it brings together globally influential artists to support a shared humanitarian mission.
He noted that the performers represent voices that transcend borders and generations, making them ideal ambassadors for the campaign’s message.
Organisers also hinted at appearances from popular children’s characters such as Sesame Street and The Muppets, adding a family-focused element to the event and reinforcing its educational theme.
Madonna said the opportunity to perform at the World Cup final would be deeply meaningful, while Shakira revealed plans to debut a new song created specifically for the tournament and its education initiative.
BTS also described the project as a celebration of music’s ability to connect people globally and inspire hope, especially among children.
