Ronaldo Set For Historic Sixth World Cup As Portugal Unveil Star-Studded 2026 Squad
Cristiano Ronaldo will make history this summer after being named in Portugal’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first player set to feature in six editions of the tournament.
Portugal coach Roberto Martinez included the 41-year-old forward in a strong 26-man squad packed with experience and attacking quality as the Europeans prepare for another push for global glory.
Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al Nassr, remains Portugal’s all-time leading scorer and is expected to captain the side in what he previously hinted could be his final World Cup appearance.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is joined by several big names, including Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Vitinha and Ruben Dias.
Martinez said Ronaldo’s age would not affect his role in the team, insisting the veteran striker still possesses the mentality and fitness needed for football’s biggest stage.
Portugal will play friendly matches against Chile and Nigeria before beginning their World Cup campaign against DR Congo on June 17. They will also face Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K.
