VIDEOS: Nursing Student Killed in Alleged Landlord Attack in Alor; Suspect in Police Custody
A wave of shock has swept through Uruezeani, Alor in Anambra State following the death of Miss Chilaka Vivian, a second-year (ND II) nursing student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, who was found dead in her residence on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The incident has triggered a full-scale police investigation after reports emerged of a violent confrontation inside the student’s apartment.
According to preliminary accounts, the deceased had previously complained about repeated unwanted advances from her landlord, Mr. Ogochukwu Ugoeze, which she reportedly rejected on several occasions.
On the day of the incident, it was alleged that a confrontation broke out inside the residence, which escalated into a struggle that resulted in fatal injuries to the student.
Shortly after, the landlord reportedly presented himself at a police station, claiming that an unknown intruder had broken into his compound and attacked his tenant while he was asleep.
However, police investigators say his statement raised inconsistencies during initial checks. Officers reportedly observed signs of disturbance in multiple areas of the building, including sections beyond the victim’s room.
Attention has also been drawn to a guard dog in the compound, described by neighbours as highly alert and responsive to unusual movement.
