Joseph Momodu Bids Farewell to Nollywood, Begins Military Career in the US
Nigerian actor Joseph Momodu has embarked on a new path after announcing that he has joined the United States Army, marking a significant departure from his career in Nollywood.

The actor disclosed the news in a post shared on Instagram, where he described his enlistment as the fulfilment of a dream he had nurtured for years.
Momodu said the milestone carried deep emotional significance because it allowed him to honour the memory of his late father, a former officer of the Nigeria Police Force who died 20 years ago.
He revealed that by joining the US Army on April 12, 2026, he felt he was continuing the legacy his father left behind.

Recalling his military training, the actor admitted the journey was far from easy. He said there were moments when he questioned his decision, but his determination to succeed kept him moving until he completed the process.
Momodu is now serving as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

His transition from the entertainment industry to military service places him among a small but growing number of Nollywood actors, including Mayowa Dosu and Grace-Charis Bassey, who have also enlisted in the United States military.
