In the aftermath of the November 11 off-cycle election in Imo State, Samuel Anyanwu, the candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has pledged to exhaust all legal avenues in his quest to unseat Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Anyanwu adamantly insists on reclaiming what he considers his ‘stolen mandate,’ asserting that the election was an egregious violation of democratic principles. Speaking in Owerri, the state capital, he highlighted the need to address the perceived injustice.Following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of Uzodinma as the winner, with Anyanwu securing the second position and Achonu third, the PDP candidate expressed solidarity with the citizens, acknowledging their plight under what he termed ‘unjust governance.
Anyanwu stressed the imperative of peaceful action, affirming the PDP’s commitment to non-violence while mobilizing legal strategies to challenge the election outcome. He vehemently condemned the purported electoral malpractices, branding them as an assault on democracy and an orchestrated effort to disrupt the stability of Imo State.
