Burundian authorities have expelled twelve Rwandans including women and children for refusing the Covid jab.

According to local media, the twelve had fled the ongoing mandatory vaccination campaign in their home country, Rwanda, and spent over five days on the Nyakarama hill of Kirundo province before they got pushed out.

Kirundo provincial governor, Albert Hatungimana, ordered their deportation to Rwanda.

Just a week ago, nine other Rwandan nationals were repatriated to their country by the authorities in the province. They had also fled the mandatory vaccination campaign, the BBC reported.

Speaking during a Tuesday security meeting, governor Hatungimana said that authorities would not welcome people that ignore the country’s Covid-19 response programme.

Hatungimana clearly stated that a vaccination certificate would be required from everyone trying to enter the country.
