Ethiopian Airlines Buys 11 New Boeing 737 MAX Jets to Boost Its Growing Fleet
Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new deal to buy 11 more Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, strengthening its long-standing partnership with Boeing.
The agreement was revealed at the Dubai Airshow and shows the airline’s intention to grow both its regional and international routes.
As Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines already operates the biggest Boeing fleet on the continent and continues to invest in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.
According to the airline’s CEO, Mesfin Tasew, the new 737-8 jets will help support their expansion plans and improve the travel experience for passengers.
The 737 MAX fleet is used on busy routes across Africa, the Middle East, India, and parts of Europe because it offers good fuel savings and fast turnaround times.
Boeing leaders also praised Ethiopian Airlines for its strong position in African aviation and its commitment to connecting the continent with the rest of the world.
This latest order adds to an 80-year relationship between Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines. The airline has consistently chosen Boeing jets including the 787 Dreamliner and the upcoming 777X to meet rising demand.

With this new purchase, Ethiopian Airlines continues to position itself as a global aviation leader while investing in next-generation aircraft.
