EU Lawmaker Calls for Stronger European Support to Boost Africa’s Industrial Growth
Labour MEP Daniel Attard has called on Europe to deepen its support for Africa’s industrialisation, saying true security in Europe depends on long-term stability across Africa.
He made this statement during a meeting between European Parliament representatives and members of the African Union Parliament in South Africa, ahead of an upcoming summit between African and European leaders.
Attard explained that the future of both continents is closely connected. He stressed that Europe cannot be safe or stable if Africa continues to struggle with poverty, limited opportunities, and underdevelopment.
According to him, creating jobs, improving infrastructure, and supporting industries in African countries will help young people build meaningful futures at home instead of seeking opportunities abroad.
He urged Europe to focus on partnership, fairness, and growth, not exploitation. By investing in Africa’s industrial capacity and supporting sustainable development, Attard believes both regions can benefit economically and socially.
He emphasised that a stronger and more developed Africa ultimately contributes to a more secure and prosperous Europe.
