First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to adopt agriculture as a crucial means for collective survival, food production, and security. Represented by Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State’s governor, she made this call at the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agricultural Support Programme in Awka.

During the event, over 200 farmers from 21 Local Government Areas began training in areas such as irrigation, fish farming, piggery, vegetable farming, and poultry at the Anambra State Polytechnic in Mgbakwu, Awka North LGA.

Tinubu emphasized, “If we all embrace agriculture, especially backyard farming, we will be able to feed our families and address issues like food scarcity.” She further added, “Learning farming techniques will help farmers make bountiful harvests and achieve self-reliance.”

She also highlighted the benefits of reducing food imports, empowering rural communities, and promoting sustainable growth. Tinubu encouraged the participants to fully engage in the training and share the knowledge with others in their communities.

Additionally, Dr. Njideka Chiekezie, Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, thanked the government for choosing their institution for this vital training and praised Governor Soludo’s Healthy Living Initiative, which focuses on sustainable agricultural practices and food security.

One of the farmers, Mr. Ezekiel Okwuchukwu, expressed that the training would significantly benefit his farming business, enabling him to adopt improved practices and increase productivity.
