Guinea’s military Junta leader, Colonel Mamady DOUMBOUYA has been sworn-in as the country’s interim President as political actors, civil society, diplomats, and all economic, cultural actors anxiously wait for the transition to civilian rule in the next next few months.
Weeks ago, the military junta toppled President Alpha Conde citing mismanagement, corruption and abuse of power, a move which was greeted by celebrations across the mineral rich West African country.
However, the regional body, ECOWAS, suspended the country amidst calls to the return to civilian rule.
The military has continued to re-affirm its commitment to the transition as political players regroup and rebrand ahead of elections.
