Ikechukwu Ogbonna, widely known as IVD, was reportedly arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, just as he was about to depart for his highly anticipated wedding to controversial relationship expert, Blessing CEO, in Qatar.
The arrest occurred on Friday when IVD was stopped by officials from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. His detention has sparked widespread attention, with many questioning the reasons behind his sudden hold-up at the airport.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, popular journalist Stella Dimoko-Korkus revealed that the arrest is related to the ongoing legal case concerning the tragic death of IVD’s late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
“The domestic violence case involving his late wife is still in court, and IVD is not allowed to leave Nigeria until the case is concluded,” Dimoko-Korkus explained.
Bimbo Ogbonna passed away in October 2022 after suffering severe injuries from a fire caused by domestic violence in their Lagos home.
The Lagos State Government has charged IVD with involuntary manslaughter in connection with her death, under case number LD/21055C/23.
