Latter-Day Saints Donate 444 Mobility Aids in Akwa Ibom
In Nigeria, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated 444 mobility aids, including 263 wheelchairs and 181 walking devices, to persons with disabilities in Akwa Ibom State.
The donation was officially presented in Uyo by Alfred Kyungo, President of the church’s Africa West Area, who handed the items to Governor Umo Eno for onward distribution.
Speaking at the Women Development Centre, Kyungo explained that the initiative reflects the church’s mission to support vulnerable people in line with Christian teachings, while urging Nigerians to embrace volunteerism.
Governor Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, described the gesture as timely and in line with his administration’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritises welfare for the disabled.
The ceremony drew beneficiaries from across the state, with several expressing gratitude for the church’s humanitarian support.
