Mamelodi Murder Suspect Remains in Jail After Dropping Bail Request
Tebogo Mnisi, a 38-year-old man accused of killing two young women in Mamelodi East, has decided not to apply for bail.

He appeared in court on Wednesday with his head bowed, avoiding eye contact throughout the hearing.
Mnisi was arrested after the shocking murders of cousins Tshiamo Moramaga (22) and Baleseng Moramaga (21), whose deaths sparked national outrage when disturbing photos and videos spread across social media.
According to his lawyer, Mnisi has no criminal record, pending cases, or outstanding warrants.
Despite this, he chose to abandon his right to request bail, meaning he will remain in custody until January 19, 2026, when the case resumes.
The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed that he faces charges of two counts of premeditated murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Authorities also revealed that one of the victims, Tshiamo, was Mnisi’s girlfriend and that a male friend who was with the cousins survived with injuries.
Large crowds gathered outside the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court, showing strong support for the Moramaga family and demanding justice.
The community has called for the full weight of the law to be applied to ensure the victims’ families get closure.

Police and prosecutors say investigations are still ongoing to gather more evidence before the next court date.
