The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed a notable increase with 25 political associations applying for party registration before the 2027 general elections.
This surge in applications was revealed during a discussion at the ‘NEEDS Assessment of Political Parties in Nigeria’ event organized by the Kukah Centre and the European Union. Leaders highlighted pressing concerns such as accountability, inclusivity, and transparency within political parties, aiming to rebuild public confidence. Discussions underscored the urgent need for substantial reforms to foster a more accountable and transparent political landscape in preparation for the upcoming elections.
