NIGERIA: House of Reps Orders Arrest of CBN Governor and Others

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions issues arrest warrants for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, and 17 officials for failing to attend the committee’s hearing.

Representative Fred Agbedi proposed the warrants due to non-compliance, suggesting the Inspector General of Police bring them before the committee by December 14. This action stems from a petition highlighting alleged fraudulent activities in the oil and gas industry, potentially affecting the funding of the proposed 2024 budget.
