The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently conducted an operation in Abuja, during which fake and expired goods valued at over N500 million were destroyed. NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, mentioned that some of the items were voluntarily submitted to the agency. The operation, represented by Mr. Francis Ononiwu, NAFDAC’s Director of Investigation and Enforcement, is part of routine nationwide efforts to safeguard the supply chain from the reintroduction of these harmful products. The items destroyed included drugs with psychoactive and controlled substances, as well as food products, cosmetics, chemicals, medical devices, and unwholesome goods. Additionally, expired products were handed over for destruction by various entities, with an estimated street value of N535,000,657.00. Prof Adeyeye emphasized the importance of combating drug counterfeiting as a means of protecting public health and urged the public to report suspicious products to NAFDAC. #OMAGIST@AFRICAWORLDNEWS
