Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has urged Peter Obi, the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the interest of Nigeria’s political future.
The governor made the appeal during Obi’s visit to the Bauchi State Government House, emphasizing the need for stronger opposition unity to address the nation’s growing challenges.
“We want you back in the PDP,” Mohammed said. “This is where you truly belong. The other side is in disarray — let’s rebuild together.”
Governor Mohammed stressed that opposition parties must collaborate to form a credible alternative to the current administration, which he criticized for lacking a clear development agenda.
“If we are serious about rescuing Nigeria, then PDP, NNPP, ADC, and others must set aside their differences. There is no working budget, no concrete plan — it’s all politics. We must unite, bury personal interests, and come together as one front.”
In response, Obi acknowledged the challenges within all political camps but expressed openness to future collaboration with Governor Mohammed.
“We are already working hand in hand,” Obi said. “Every party is facing its own hurdles. What matters now is finding common ground to do what’s right for our country and for the next generation.”
During his time in Bauchi, Obi also visited educational institutions, where he awarded ₦15 million in scholarships to students at a nursing school and an Islamiyah school. He later held a dialogue with students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, engaging them on national development and leadership.
