Pilots Involved in ValueJet Incident Also Suspended for One Month
The Nigerian government has reduced the flight ban placed on Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, to one month. He has also been appointed as an aviation ambassador to promote proper airport conduct.
This was confirmed in a statement released Thursday by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, following consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation industry.
“In the case of KWAM 1, the NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” Keyamo said.
The minister also directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to reinstate the licenses of ValueJet pilots Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba after a one-month suspension. Both are expected to undergo mandatory professional assessments before returning to duty.
Further details are expected to be announced by the NCAA.
