Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State expressed concern over President Bola Tinubu’s emphasis on his role in the recent violence, which included attacks on local government offices. During an interview, Fubara highlighted the ongoing conflict with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, stating, “The situation is clear to everyone… it’s not just about me.”
He criticized the withdrawal of police security, asserting that it “allowed these miscreants to exploit the situation and wreak havoc.” Despite the unrest following elections in which the Action People’s Party won most council positions, Fubara insisted on the need for increased police presence to protect newly elected officials.
He acknowledged Tinubu’s intervention, saying, “I don’t have an issue with the President’s intervention, but I am concerned that only my name was mentioned.”
